Our Distinctives

  • We have a commitment to the fair and accurate interpretation of Scripture. We require preaching and teaching to present what the Bible says, when the Bible says it, and with the emphasis the Bible gives. All too often ministries twist the Word to make it mean what they say instead of allowing it to say what it means.
  • We have a commitment to truth and love. Truth without love easily turns into a legalism of outward conformity lacking compassion and mercy. Love, however, without truth quickly turns into a libertinism where every man does that which is right in his own eyes. God’s truth combined with God’s love enables us to stand uncompromisingly on clear biblical teaching while showing grace and patience toward one another as we grow in Christlikeness.
  • We have a commitment to historic conservative evangelical Christianity. This means we stand on the shoulders of giants of the faith who lived and died for the truth of the Word of God. We will not dismiss lightly their theology, positions, teachings, and practices, though we undoubtedly follow some more closely than others. We are skeptical of modern trends in theology and practice, and they will be evaluated prayerfully and thoroughly for consistency with Scripture before any change will be accepted or adopted.
  • We have a commitment to the biblical worship of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is the God of creation and is worthy of worship that reflects His eternal character and attributes. The great hymnody and music of our Christian forefathers will be combined with the best of today’s compositions to engage us in worship that transcends the passing fads of pop culture.
  • We have a commitment to holy living. We have been called from before the creation of the world to be holy and without blame before Him and have been predestined to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ. Old things have passed away, and this will be reflected in continued growth in righteousness as we shed the ways of the world, flesh, and sin and grow in godliness, purity, and integrity.
  • We have a commitment to biblical discipleship. Salvation encompasses a whole life change and is not merely an emotional religious experience. This means we take personal involvement with one another seriously by providing accountability for one another in our pursuit of Christian growth. God did not design the church to be a social club, but to be a mutual system of support in both admonition and exhortation.
